We care about you

Care Begins With Listening

Every patient’s journey is unique, and we take the time to understand your concerns and your goals. We review medical and dental histories, carefully evaluate symptoms, and work with infants, children, and adults experiencing challenges with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, eating, speech, dental health, digestion, neck and back tension, or overall oral function and development.

By listening to your concerns and working closely with families and healthcare professionals, we create personalized care plans designed around each patient’s individual needs, helping you feel informed, supported, and confident in your care.

Signs and Symptoms of Tongue-Tie or Lip-Tie in Babies

Feeding challenges can have many causes, and they are not your fault. A tongue-tie or lip-tie may be one factor when a baby has trouble latching or feeding comfortably.

A lactation consultant can help you understand what is happening. If challenges continue, we can assess your baby’s oral movement and talk through the findings with you.

Signs You May Notice in Your Baby

  • Difficulty latching or staying latched
  • Clicking, leaking milk, or frequent breaks during feeds
  • Long feedings without seeming satisfied
  • Trouble taking a bottle or coordinating sucking and swallowing
  • Slow weight gain or difficulty taking in enough milk
  • Limited tongue movement or a heart-shaped tongue tip

Signs You May Experience During Feeding

  • Painful breastfeeding or persistent nipple soreness
  • Cracked or damaged nipples
  • Difficulty maintaining milk supply or finding a comfortable feeding position

How We Can Help

Not every tongue-tie or lip-tie needs treatment. We listen to your concerns, assess oral movement and function, and explain what we find so you can make an informed decision for yourself or your child.

Dr. Kaitlyn Katherman

Meet Dr. Katherman, DMD, FICD, IBCLC

I believe good care starts with listening to each family’s story.

As a dentist and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I bring both oral-health and feeding expertise to tongue-tie and lip-tie care. I want families to understand their options and feel supported at every step.

I’m a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Pennsylvania Dental Association 10 Under 10 honoree. I also enjoy teaching children in our community about dental health. As a mom of four, I know how much it matters to feel heard when seeking care for your family.

I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine. After years providing comprehensive care in the York area, I opened Katherman Tongue Tie Center to focus on functional oral care for infants, children, and adults.

My work brings together dentistry, lactation support, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. I served as president of the York County Dental Society in 2024, and I remain committed to learning, service, and helping each family feel informed and welcome.

Families Feel Heard and Supported

★★★★★

“We had tongue and lip tie reversals done on our baby at roughly 4 months old. The process itself was quick. Baby settled within 5 minutes after. Dr. Katherman checked in on us the same day to see how everything was going. She was also available throughout the healing process for any concerns or questions. It did help our girl tremendously with improved latch, stopped clicking, and much less gas.”
